02How it works
- We send a question only when your background covers it. You can decline any question, and declining does not change what comes next.
- You write the answer yourself, in a personal capacity. Your employer’s contracts, pricing and anything held confidential stay out of it.
- Payment comes in two parts. The project pays a flat fee, set by role before you start and shown above. Separately, an approved answer earns a share of what the record earns, each time it is used, for twelve months or until the information becomes public.
- Where someone asked the question and you answered it first, the asker and the first answerer take equal halves. Confirming an answer somebody else gave is not paid.
03Your name
You decide how each answer is credited.
- Named. Your name on the answer.
- Title only. Your title, no name.
- Anonymous. A reader sees a standard industry line and nothing that identifies you.
You make the choice on each answer, and nothing carries over from the last one.
04Four things we will not do
- Ask you for a document, a file or a number that belongs to your employer.
- Attach your name to an answer you marked title only or anonymous.
- Tell a sponsor who answered, or let one edit what an answer says.
- Send you a question we have not first checked against your current and past employers.
Expert contributors are paid for approved answers, as a share of revenue for as long as the answer is used. Contribution does not affect coverage.
05Apply
Your name, where you work, and your résumé. The résumé is how a question reaches the right person and how we check one against the places you have worked. Applying commits you to nothing.
